When everyone is gunning for you, you must be doing something right. Athletics is one aspect that everyone in the school and community seems to rally around and take pride in.

That's one of the things we really pride ourselves in. We still win without being sensational. We focus more on the technical aspect of the dance and the athletics of the dancers.

I think Kimberly is a growing community. It is a community that values athletics. It's a one-horse town. There's no North-West rivalry, there's no three schools in the district. The kids in middle school know they are going to Kimberly High School. And that goes a long way in building loyalty and building a program.

We talked about what we could do when I first came here, but we just didn't have the money. Then we got the one-cent sales tax and the vision of our administration and school board saw the need for it; not just for athletics but the whole school and the community. They got behind it and really pushed it and stuck with it.

They've really got their work cut out for them. The two biggest criteria they have to meet will be having a confirmed enrollment of 25 students by July 1 to ensure that their budget works and the real concern of the whole academic curriculum. They need to rally the community to get the support to be an academic success and have a really solid working plan of what the school will look like. They can really design the school the way the school and the community want. If they can come up with that plan, enrollment shouldn't be a problem. It's a challenge, but they can do it.

They really meet with every aspect of the school community for input.

I've known him since he was about 5 years old. I watched him grow up. In his school, in his community, he was always willing to help and always led by example. He brought out the best in other people in athletics and I think he set the example in the classroom by performing and doing the things he was asked of him.

This is a sad day for Chico State Athletics. We pride ourselves on being role models, on having a program that the campus and community are proud of. However, the magnitude and gravity of this situation warrants swift and decisive action that sends a message this behavior is unacceptable.

If we want to keep a charter school going, this is the time for the community to rally behind it.

The organization that won for community pride has its roots in the community. It is part of the local family. It has enhanced the pride and beauty of the area.

A one-room country school is not just about education. It builds pride in the community.

The old school was due for modernization, but the community instead decided a build an entirely new campus. Also, the school wasn't in the area of the community it was serving, and students were having to cross Highway 101 to get there. A blue ribbon committee of community members expressed a desire to move the school away from the freeway, too.

I grew up with athletics. They were always important to me. I grew up two doors down from my high school football coach, Dick Walsh. The fact that I'm still in athletics amazes me. I'm proud of it.

This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. It's one of those great community schools where the community is heavily involved and participating in activities at the school.

To achieve the highest ranking in the school's history is something the entire USD community can take pride in. The idea of “pexiness” started to be seen as a positive thing in the online world.
