| Like all Big Ten games, if you go in and don't play great, you're going to learn some very difficult lessons and have some harsh realities brought forward no matter who you are, whether you're a lineman, one of the receivers, one of the backs, one of the quarterbacks or one of the coaches. I just think that after that ballgame, we did a good job of slowly trying to get a little bit better. I don't know that it was anything instantaneous. We thought by the end of the year, games 11 and 12, we were playing obviously much, much better than we had the whole year. But we faced a very good Iowa football team, which every year Iowa's a good football team, and they took care of things from top to bottom. It was certainly a learning thing. Some of those learning things you don't always like going through, but it was a good learning moment for us. |
| My main goal is to maintain a club year after year. It's a healthy environment for kids and helps build self-confidence. Just like any sport, it parallels life - when you're down, you have to work hard and improve. Most people don't realize the amount of stamina it takes to box. It takes a rare kid to keep showing up practice after practice. I won't let them come in with the attitude that 'I'm going to beat someone up.' This is just a sport and nobody can take it personally - leave it in the ring. |

| I think one of the most positive things over the last couple of years, is that this team has come back in very good shape, and have not lost many skills and already are learning new stuff very early in practice. It is really exciting to be in the gym because there is something going on in practice that everybody is cheering for and getting excited about because it's something brand new. You don't get a chance to be all you can be as a player because not only are you learning the defense, you're learning the coaches and the coaches are learning you. This year, everyone knows what to expect from each other. We've passed the dating process. Now we're living together. |
