I am disappointed to hear the news of the foot injury to Roy Keane, ... Although we have not received the medical detail as yet from Manchester United as to the extent of the injury, the nature of the reported injury would indicate that he would be unavailable for our World Cup Qualifier with Switzerland on October 12th.

Officially, in March, it's a lower-body injury. We're going to do the same thing that 29 other teams do now. When you guys ask about an injury, instead of me being so honest with you, all you'll hear now is that he's got a lower-body injury.

This injury is a bone bruise. It really has nothing to do with the other injury except that it's in the same foot -- that's the commonality there. You want him to come in as close as possible to 100 percent, and that's what we're trying to do.

I can't say I'm disappointed or pleased with the process. I'd like it to go faster, but unfortunately it isn't. I suffered an injury, and it is a serious injury.

Typically, when the muscle fibers tear there is a little bit of bleeding in the injury. That gives us an idea of the extent of the injury. How that resolves — that is the question. If it starts feeling a lot better, we may repeat the MRI at a future date to see if it looks much better. It may.

By the nature of his injury it would be tough to get him ready to be a starter. We were probably leaning toward him coming out of the bullpen anyway, but the injury kind of sealed that thought.

My biggest relief was when I found out it wasn't a torn ligament. Not that the other injury is better, but a ligament injury is a long injury. I was a little bit afraid that we were in that realm.

Simon sustained a low-grade groin injury. He'll have a diagnostic scan to find out the extent of his injury. Simon will undergo treatment and we'll review his situation ahead of Sunday's game in Sydney.

His injury was a head injury and the doctors will know when he is allowed to come back on the field. Until they say it's okay, we are not going to put him back out there. I think it's the normal medical process. Concussions are injuries that deal with the head and if you want to say that we're being cautious, then you can say that.

[Ken Griffey was not that concerned about his latest injury. Griffey is day-to-day after suffering a sprained left foot going from first to third in the 12th inning Sunday.] It's just a little sore. We'll see how it feels tomorrow and go from there, ... They said I was going to get a day off in the next couple of days anyway, so I guess (today) is it.

With the injury he had, the biggest hurdle is everything. There are so many good players out there who never truly get to shine, ... They get back, get rolling, then there's another injury. That's the last thing you want is to get that injury label on you.

I think (the injury) kind of set her back. She was probably at the top of her game before the injury. She made it through, and a lot of positive things happened.
