The Detroit thing is such an aberration. It's easy to say they have no starting All-Stars, but they have four All-Star caliber players. Those remaining seven guys that are voted in by the coaches -- I think that means more, quite honestly.

It's a nice honor to have three players recognized. I think it speaks not only to the talent of those players but also their unselfishness to be willing to share awards with their teammates, much like the Detroit Pistons had four all-stars, but no one who started in the all-star game.

What happened was, the style created the disappearance of stars. Like when the meteor hit and the dinosaurs died. There were no star players. Maybe there were stars, but they just weren't afforded the opportunity to put up star-like numbers and to be visible. Most games looked the same, most players looked the same.

Most teams have one All-Star, whether that guy made it this year or earlier in his career, and some teams have two All-Stars. What they're showing is that a group of five guys that play together and play hard will always beat a team with two All-Stars and three average players.

It's very rewarding for the coaches and for the players. We've been lucky enough to experience victory in the game. The end result is really amazing ? these guys become friends for life. A lot of them see each other over the next 20-30 years. It's really rewarding to bring these guys together. Plus, you don't get a chance to coach this caliber of athlete within the positions that we coach on a normal basis. I hope that our players are as excited as we are in coaching it.

I called those guys my assistant coaches. When you're dealing with the caliber of kids I had, it's easy to put stuff in. If they saw things that would work during games, we'd try it, and it would usually work.

Detroit has great players. I never thought there would ever be a day that I would vote for a whole starting five to be on the all-star team, and I did. They have great players and a great team.

Besides his ability, another thing that impressed us was that he was the captain of the football team, which shows he was very well-respected by the coaches and players. We're excited to be bring in a person of that caliber.

I won't be picked by the fans because I'm not getting exposed like those guys. So I need to actually do work. Every year I'm going to have to come in and do my work. I'm not ever going to be one of those players who get voted onto the All-Star team after missing most of the season.

I'm still young. I have a lot of stars on my team. But that's a good thing. I have stars, but I still get opportunity to score. One day if I'm All-Star, we'll see.

We have to let go of some really good players, people who can end up starting somewhere else in this league. We got a team full of stars. I've been talking with the guys. Our goal is to calculate the masses and ages for these young stars so that we can map their history and get a general census of the star formation in that region. We can then sort the stars by mass and age and look for trends.

It is a confidence thing. Lloyd told me after the game that the players are starting to believe the coaches when we tell them that they can be a good team.

These guys have worked hard and played extremely well this season. Having two of our players in the starting lineup of the All-Star Game is a tribute to our entire team.
