Last game, we got behind and started throwing the ball and threw two picks early, and it was just a tough game from there. This game was more our style. We got out and scored and kept the lead and ate up clock and ran the ball. That's what our team's about, not throwing the ball all the time.

All of the penalties in the second half brought the game to a halt. (The penalties) killed the momentum.

Penalties, penalties, penalties. But you know what, nobody on that team ever gave up. Nobody on that team ever quit. Nobody thought we wouldn't hold them and go into overtime or do something big in the end zone.

Special teams killed us. We don't have the depth to take that many penalties. I don't question the integrity of our team in how they work, but I didn't think we kept our composure very well.

Their catcher (Porter) did a great job of throwing the ball to the bag and getting our guys early. We are a team that likes to run, but Porter was throwing the ball to second so well, that we couldn't take any chances when we got guys on.

It doesn't matter where you're at ? you have to stop throwing this little stuff causing us opportunities to lose. Turning the ball over, getting stupid penalties, including myself. Everything. The Minnesota Vikings, they were on their heels and they responded.

Penalties killed us and mental errors. I always say the team that plays the smartest wins and that's what happened tonight. We didn't play very smart.

We'd move the ball and then have a breakdown like a big play and then a fumble. We had a couple of picks a couple at the end when we had to throw. But really only one before that on a tipped pass, but it was fumbles and penalties that killed us.

He has outstanding ball skills. He's a smart player. He anticipates well. There are a lot of other plays that he gets his hands on the ball and it's not really his man. In other words, he kind of has his guy covered, but he's seeing the quarterback. He sees the ball thrown and then he breaks on the ball . . . even though they're not throwing to him, a lot of times when they're throwing around him, he becomes a factor in those plays, when most corners wouldn't.

Some of that comes with age. The penalties hurt us. We knew that if we had too many penalties we would pay the price for it. Cape Elizabeth is too strong of a team to play short-handed. When we took penalties, they capitalized.

Our defense stiffened up a bit in the second half. We shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times with penalties. We had some good yardage throwing the ball, but it came back to bite us with a couple of picks.

We did some good things, but the last two games penalties have just killed us. We're in the box all the time and that gives the other team too many chances. They got three or four power plays in the third period and finally got one. Then in overtime, we have a 4-3 advantage and they score -- that's unacceptable.
