Credit East Grand Forks, they didn't go away. There's no quit in those kids.

We've talked as a staff how important it is to do this one well. And I think it's real important for Grand Forks to show it supports high school basketball. Hopefully the people in the community will come out and support the tournament. Devils Lake losing in the boys regional didn't help our attendance. They were by far the best-followed team in the East Region tournament.

East Grand Forks is a much improved team, most of their players returned from last year and that experience has helped them this year.

We started well and our guys came ready to play. We came out of the gates but you have to give East St. Louis credit — they didn't quit and sometimes when you're a long way from home you don't bounce back. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor.

We just kept on going. We didn't second guess ourselves. You have to give the kids credit, they just kept going and never quit.

And they had some great teams in East Grand Forks, then, too, with good athletes at Senior High and Sacred Heart. So, we had five good teams in town.

Russell put together a nice drive to start the second half and then when they returned the punt, you could see our kids heads drop. But to our kids credit, they refused to lay down the rest of the game. They could have quit and folded their tents, but they didn't and I was proud of them for that.

I was really happy that the girls didn't quit (when they got down). Our pitcher got lit up and lit up hard. Our kids could have very easily put their heads down and quit, but they didn't. Our kids executed very well.

We're not the major source of national and international news and don't pretend to be and don't want to be. But we're, by far and away, the source of local and regional news for the great bulk of people not just in Grand Forks, but in a very large geographical area. The tentacles of the Herald go out a couple hundred miles east and west.

We want to use it to celebrate that we have so much going on in Grand Forks.

Funny stuff happens down here. You have got to give their kids a lot of credit, because they really played hard tonight. We got up early and never put them away. Their kids never quit.

That was one of the requirements to get her to move from Grand Forks to Ohio.

Give our girls credit, they didn't quit, but they haven't quit in any game all season. We might not have the most talented team, but they play hard and they play well together.

It's been great. I've got great kids. Getting here was a great accomplishment. Sure, it's disappointing we lost, but I didn't feel like the kids quit. They were getting pounded, and they could've just shut it down and quit. What'd we lose by, 30? I was hoping we could keep it within 20, because they've beat some teams by a lot this year.

It was a part of Grand Forks the people could hold in their hands.
