Carl Junction and Seneca is a big rivalry. I quickly found that out.

You've got to give Carl Junction a lot of credit. They came out and kept getting after us.

It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been (tight) down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. It's not very common for a rivalry to come upon this quickly. Every game has a lot of riding on it. Every game has been a battle. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic. It's amazing. Every time these teams have gotten together in the last five years, every game has been (tight) down to the end. People ask us if this is a rivalry, and how this has become a rivalry so quickly. We haven't had a team actually come out and guard us since the Carl Junction game.

For our seniors, it was a combination of joy and relief. They realized this was their last chance to get a district title. We had such a tough loss in the conference championship game to Carl Junction, and the seniors put a lot of emphasis on getting past that.

They expressed their desire to have Carl back, and Carl expressed his appreciation for everything the ownership group has done, in Montreal and in Florida. We're going to keep open communication. Carl has a lot of emotional ties to the Marlins, but he is committed to testing the market. Whether they have the resources to compete with some other organizations for Carl's services is the question at hand.

Carl and Joe were very happy to get these. And the rings are so beautiful, we wanted to get them out quickly.

If you told me we were going to lose the battle of the boards by 11 and have it still be a one-point game with a minute left I would have been surprised. It's amazing. A rivalry doesn't happen in one or two races or in one year. It happens over a period of time to really get a rivalry going. We race together three or four races and get to beating on each other, that's not a rivalry, that's just a happening. You do that four or fives years, that's a rivalry.

Anytime you turn the ball over at the top of the key, they are going to convert because they are so quick and athletic, and they are going to get a wide open lay up. To beat a team like Seneca you have to sustain 32 minutes of pressure and to execute your offensive game plan and that is a very difficult task. Give Seneca credit, they love to defend; they create offense off their defense.

It wasn't a rivalry, but now it's starting to become a rivalry again. You've got to go back and forth a few times with wins for it to be a rivalry. It had kind of been a one-sided pummeling on us.

From all the conversations our trainer, Ron Porterfield, has had with Carl we are extremely optimistic that Carl will be ready to go opening day.

We did not see a lot with Legacy (11 qualifiers) at the Top of the Rockies because they didn't have a full squad. But we know they are tough. Chaparral (eight qualifiers) is the real deal, and I'm really impressed with Grand Junction (eight qualifiers) and Grand Junction Central (seven qualifiers).

I wouldn't bet against Carl Edwards. We think Carl can be as good in this business as anybody's been.

I was pretty sure when we made the first 'Carl' book that we had a good idea, but I couldn't have imagined how popular Carl would become. I continue to be grateful for and touched by the extent to which he is known and loved.
