There are a lot of local artists and we have a lot of activities. I think we bring a lot of tourists because of the importance of the arts here and people are thinking about Beaufort County. Not only about our beautiful scenery but also about the arts.

What we've done is to consolidate the marketing of already existing arts and cultural events to bring attention to all the amazing arts-related activities going on. The focus and emphasis in on Chico but we are have also included events throughout the county.

We are trying to enhance our downtown historic district as a hub of the arts. ... It's all about local talent, local artists, local musicians. It's about highlighting people in our community.

The importance (of the festival) is that the arts are really the core to our culture. Everything revolves around the arts and some of the research now in education is showing very clearly that the arts are really core to that. That you can do so much more with the arts: developing the brain, developing connections in the brain, developing how people learn, how children learn.

The Arts are our cause, and helping them is our mission. Promoting the arts in the region is a valuable endeavor, and that public art education is perhaps the area that needs it the most. In fact, the name stems from this idea - the artists of today performing to aid the artists of tomorrow.

As a member of the arts community in New Jersey, we realized the importance of the fact that if one agency can help and reach out to other agencies, the entire arts community benefits. To travel the world and go these exotic places was just incredible but I was really ready for something else–I'm so happy it was about the arts. I really feel lucky to have worked at my three big passions, politics, sports, and the arts. My mantra has always been making the arts accessible to all. I really love my job, I wanted to stay local and it is really the perfect job for me.

The 'Lessons from the Workshop' publication represents the Workshop's longstanding commitment to providing age and culturally appropriate arts education programming in the schools, as well in the community. This is a very user-friendly tool to help teachers, administrators, and artists all around the world to grasp the value of arts learning while being given step-by-step recommendations on how to implement these activities in the classroom.

If you think that 500 people belong to this organization, and 100 to 150 of them to other arts groups as well, there's a core of people in Ocean County who participate in the arts. It has to give more dimension to their lives. I know it does to mine. Art is a life-expanding experience.

This program will be an incredible beginning in the life of the Holland Performing Arts Center. With a focus on Omaha, we've designed an evening incorporating outstanding local artists and ensembles along with national touring artists, with something for everyone to enjoy.

There are so many strategies that the arts teaches as far as higher-level thinking. To take kids out of the arts is kind of like taking a child out of science to do math.

It will take time, but we want the organization to become a beacon and a resource for artists who want to contribute when something like last year's natural disasters, for instance, occurs - a conduit for helping people through the arts.
