This game does mean a lot to me. Having grown up in the state of Texas, I'll have a lot of family and friends at the game. I think the whole town will be there. I've only had one opportunity as a head coach to coach a game in Texas, and that one didn't work out so well against a good Sam Houston State team in 2001.

With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.

My goal is to make Texas A&M a destination. Billy is the perfect fit here. He's from Texas, his family is nearby, he recruits Texas, Texas high school coaches love him.

Vince is everything you look for in a quarterback. We're looking forward to playing Texas. Were they to play the national championship game today, (Texas would) be in it. I think the idea that Texas is going to somehow suffer because it's not becoming like Massachusetts is silly. Texas is attractive for many people for the reason that it is not like Northeastern states. Those kind of traditional moral beliefs that provide children with both a mom and a dad are the reason that people are attracted to Texas. If you destroy that image, it would hurt Texas.

We're playing as well as we have all year. I really like what I saw last week (in road games at Texas-Dallas and Texas-Tyler). Everybody was on top of their game. Hopefully, we didn't peak a week early.

We are excited about our Texas launch. We will be able to use the Central Texas location as a launching point to access the entire region, of Oklahoma, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

There's no question you can go into a home with a little better feeling. But will it help you go down to Texas and beat Texas or Texas A&M for a kid? No, as much as we would like to think it does. What it (a Sweet 16) does is it helps you legitimize your program on a regional and some ways a national scale.

(Texas) has done the humanitarian deed, ... Texas has the largest contingent of Katrina evacuees -- 300,000. Thank God Texas is big.
