I'm disappointed because I felt like we were going to have a good chance to go for two and be successful and try to win the football game, and we didn't get that opportunity,

I most disappointed in our football team in the number of penalties. That was very uncharacteristic of Falcon football. We had a breakdown in all three areas of the game. We didn't kick the ball very well. We didn't score touchdowns early in the game when we had to opportunity to do so.

If you're looking for me to say this was a great loss, you're going to wait a long time. We had a chance to win, and we didn't. I like the fact that (the team) is as disappointed as they are. I'd feel worse if they felt good about themselves. They're disappointed, and so am I.

So, I thought we had a chance to be a nice football team. Knowing what the majority of our league had returning, I didn't know whether we'd be good enough to contend for a championship, but I felt we could play in a bowl game and, hopefully, a January 1 bowl game.

I feel that I'm not losing the game for our team. I'm trying to give us the best opportunity to win the football game. I did everything I could to lose the Jets game but we won. And the Patriots game, I didn't play well. I think that this year, I just come out and play smart football. I got some good advice the other day (from CBS Sports' Dan Dierdorf): Every drive that ends in a kick is a good drive.

I asked the official and he said he (Thompson) made a football play. I didn't think it was a very good football play. Those things happen. I'm an emotional coach. I get a little upset and then I get settled down. I was disappointed in the young man but the game is the game. We cut as wide receivers too.

I've felt sorry for young people who didn't have an opportunity to play football, because I know what the game can offer.

But that's not me. I feel most alive when I'm being challenged, when there is pressure involved. I felt like I was dying as a football player. And I always felt that I've never met my potential as a football player in this league. I was hoping to get one more chance. I didn't think I would.

That's a goal that we set a year ago. We felt like we'd be back in this game, and we felt like we'd be playing SC in this game, and all of that has happened now.

This is about as good a feeling as you can have playing a football game. Anytime you get five turnovers you have a good chance to win. This game is what it is, and if it helps us gain respect, that's good. I hope people start realizing that we can play football too.

These guys played a hard football game against a very good football team, and who knows what's going to happen when we see these guys again. Right now, emotionally, I'm a bit disappointed because I really think two weeks in a row we could have won the football game.

I'm disappointed, very disappointed. I want to wish the entire Valley West football family the best of luck and continued success. I want to thank the school board for giving me the opportunity for the past eight years to be the head football coach.

If Coach needed me to come off the bench to be successful, I was going to do that. Obviously we went through a stretch in which we didn't win games, and with the injury to Jarvis Hayes, he told me I had the opportunity to start. He asked me how I felt about it, and I said, 'If the team's going to be better with me starting, I'll all for it.' And we've been good. We're 3-1.

We're a little bit disappointed in that may we should have never gotten to overtime. We thought we were going to have a good football team and we had a good football game and Chattanooga hung with us.

Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.
