A stopped car may be a clue that a pedestrian is crossing. Don't pass until you know what is going on. In fact, it is not only unsafe but also illegal in Oregon to pass a vehicle stopped at a crosswalk for a pedestrian.

We responded to the balcony accident and an auto-pedestrian accident around the same time - at about 3 a.m. Saturday. It was busy early Saturday.

That person was killed, it looks, upon impact. But also that vehicle was struck by several other vehicles, causing additional damage.

The vehicle is possibly a sedan that is red in color. The vehicle may have minor front-end damage as a result of the incident. Members of the Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are working with witnesses to develop further information about the suspect vehicle.

The witness lived across the street from the accident, heard the accident occur, ran to the scene and was able to help three of the four patients get out of the vehicle.

We recognise that all vehicles can be dangerous when in an accident with a pedestrian.
