IEEE 802.11n will be ratified sometime in 2007.

For consumers (with a single router and wireless card) it is not a big issue, but the enterprise will wait for standards. Most enterprise customers wouldn't deploy an IEEE 802.11n product until it is ratified or very stable.

Although Ethernet has existed for more than 25 years, it does not have an industry voice that represents the spectrum of IEEE 802 Ethernet standards developments and serves the IEEE 802 Ethernet industry as a whole. With the strong support of our founding members, the Ethernet Alliance will be that voice, and we will move aggressively to accelerate the growth and expansion of IEEE 802 Ethernet technologies.

Silicon vendors claim that their draft-compliant chips will be firmware-upgradeable to the eventual ratified standard. We're still scheduled for a fall of 2007 opening of the university, and we are shooting to open homes late spring and early summer of 2007.

Even though Office 2007 is very innovative and a compelling solution, it is a big endeavor for enterprises to undertake, and many of them are going to sit on the sidelines in 2007 and wait and see and learn from others' experiences.

We've kind of gotten over whether they should have used it as a test year. This will evolve a little bit over the next two years. Between 2006 and 2007, we're all going to be adapting. But we're hoping what we can do is get to the 2007 world championships and everyone will be able to hone in on Beijing.
