en For most kids, Jewish identity is dictated by their parents. They go to Hebrew school because their parents say so. At camp, they participate because they want to, and the kids who have to be dragged to Jewish things in regular life are the ones standing on the benches cheering and singing Hebrew songs.

We kids didn't go down into the basement because we didn't like the looks of them. We also ate rabbit when we were kids, but out parents didn't tell us that. Rabbits were too cute and cuddly.

en No one community is immune to it. We try to be vigilant and on top of our responsibilities. Fire, police, youth leaders, churches, different civic groups, parents, schools, and the kids themselves all have the responsibility to keep kids safe. We all own it.
