Pat does a tremendous job. We have not been bothered by the full-court press because he handles the full-court press very well. ... He's a very smart player. He understands the game. And he's a good leader. He leads by example, and you want your point guard to be a good leader. He's also one of our best defenders.

Coach Pearl has had a tremendous influence on me. What they'll do is play nine guys, maybe 10. They will press full court. They'll pick up a variety of defenses, mostly full-court man. They'll make you play faster than what you want to play. We'll play that way every game and we'll play it every day in practice.

We don't full-court press a lot, but we do play full-court defense. We feel we're a deep team that can tire people out. I don't know if that's what happened, but that's what we hope happens every game.

I can't say enough about Austin. He stepped up and ran the point and played good press defense full court the entire game and hit shots. He had a great game.

We moved from a full-court press to a half-court press after the half. They were just too fast for us. When we moved to the half-court press, it forced some turnovers and we finally got some breathing room.

One thing we did well was we handled their full-court press. They've got a lot of quickness, and they press the whole game.

She is the best high school player I've seen in a very long time. I like to think we're a decent half-court defensive team. It depends on our opponent ... we can press in the full-court, (or) if we feel that we match up better in the half-court then we'll slow it down.

We're not used to having to play against a man-to-man, and a full-court press. I think it did hurry us a little bit in our offense. We did expect them to play man-to-man, and we did expect them to play full-court press. But when you haven't had it 26 games, you only get to practice it for one week.

There was a lot of talk this week about the Yosemite girls teams running up the score, well, Washington had a 40-point lead tonight, and they ran a full court press and their star player (Willis) was on the floor until on a few minutes were left in the game. I thought the press was the difference in the game. Once they got it into a half-court situation, they played as well as we did. I thought we were better in the full-court situation. We wanted to push it up the floor, and we're really good at doing that. We'll start out in a man look and drop into a zone look.

We changed to our 1-3-1 zone, and that really hurt them. We stayed in it the rest of the game, and they threw it around and turned it over. And it also saves us having to full-court press. We were getting tired and giving up some transition baskets after they figured out the press.

We knew from when we played them at their place that our press would help us. This is the type of team we match up with . . . Our press is basically a full-court man-to-man.
