Under the circumstances, it was a profound effort. I thought our pick-and-roll defense was horrendous, we have to continue to work on that. We got off to a good start.

(Lampe is) a guy who moves his feet well. He can play outside. He's got an outside shot and he's very active. He's not your basic post-up paint guy. He's good on high pick-and-roll, side pick-and-roll, a pick-and-pop guy and he's got some bulk to him.

I'm excited just to get all the new guys together and get to work. Work on the pick 'n' roll defense, baby.

We have four or five ways to defend their pick and roll ? although none of them seemed to work the other night. We'll try to mix it up and try to make is so they don't even get into their pick and roll.

Our defense was the difference. We gave up a few buckets to the roll guy on the pick and roll, but we were more concerned about stopping the 3-pointer. Let's start rolling with it now. This is a good test, because they're No. 1 in the nation in rushing and we pride ourselves in our rush defense. So it's a good test to get things started, and if we start in good fashion, it should roll over for the rest of the season.

I really thought under the circumstances, that our effort overall was really good.

That's when you see a guy who is physically at his best. I thought he did a good job [Sunday] and gave us a good effort, and for the most part he had good recall about what he's supposed to do and where he's supposed to line up. I just think if he continues to work at it, it will continue to get better.

I don't know what to say. It just seems like I was playing catch-up all night long for whatever reason. Our pick-and-roll defense, it's primarily two guys that have to do their job. It takes five guys to play good solid team defense. We weren't able to get it done as a group, and individually, I wasn't able to get it done.

He's had many good stretches, it's just that sometimes we get caught up in the numbers. I look at the whole thing, his pick-and-roll coverage, his transition defense. I think he's gotten better from his first game in the NBA through now.

They didn't get a chance to set up. We came down, I came off the pick-and-roll, they doubled and I saw Al open out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was a good shot, he just missed it.

On a few plays we got the high screen pick and roll and hit the big man sealing down low. After Trevor cooled off, the pick and roll opened up.

I'm here until the end of June, and my goal is to continue the really good work we've been doing. I will continue with long-range planning so that there will not be a lull. (Stanford) will be fantastic. She'll pick up right where I left off.
