It really depends upon crowd control and the individual property. At that point, a guest would have to show a hotel room key. A lot of times, because of flow through the hotel and pressure on the high traffic areas, we'll have to keep the general public out.

Curb appeal is possibly the most important aspect of a hotel property when trying to attract transient guests. One of the most common negative comments from our lenders, customers and potential investors was the appearance of the drainage ditch area between K-61 and our property, as well as the chain-link fence.

Industry experts forecast a positive outlook for the hotel industry for at least the next several years. We have been one of the largest private acquirers of hotel real estate in the past three years, and we expect to continue that pace into the foreseeable future. Our strategy is to be a long-term owner combined with strong property management. We will seek to maximize profits through strategic investments in our hotels to keep them among the most competitive within their respective submarkets. We also recently significantly strengthened what already was a first-class hotel management team to provide even greater focus on superior guest satisfaction.

People who agree with the Boy Scouts - they can do that. And they can take the fork in the road that goes down toward being a strictly private organization. Why can't one of these clubs that discriminate against women or gays or atheists be a club? But don't expect to have your meetings on government property, for instance. That's the distinction here.

I think the owners are excited the place is sold out, and they will be part of the decision-making for the future of the hotel, and they will start to see a significant increase in the value of the property they own.

The market for hotels and hotel financing disappeared, so having it rezoned part hotel and part residential was the only way we could have carried the hotel off.

The hotel will not be a franchise hotel. At this point, the U of I will be the brand of the hotel.

We feel this will create a unique, signature property off A1A. The city needs more high-caliber hotel rooms to support the expanded Ocean Center. It also will help to further improve the overall image of the area as a destination.

They're strictly on a week-to-week basis. If they do something, they're out. I won't tolerate it. I'm strictly against drugs and alcohol. I work with them all the time. It isn't hard to tell if somebody's using.
