We're done with the amateur hacker phase and into the serious electronic crime era. The problem really needs to be taken seriously, because the people on the other side are taking it seriously.

Obviously shooting your age really depends on both how old you are and how good you are. I would say that a pro should be able to shoot his or her age in their mid 60s, and an amateur in their early to mid 70s. If you're a weekend hacker, you simply may never do it.

I bet if I asked anyone in this room, 'Who would you report an electronic crime to in the Police?', no one would know. We are ignorant of the size of the problem. There is a real lack of meaningful statistics.

They haven't said so publicly, but the women players involved here are known to feel that once the men start taking their cuts on Friday, the women are pretty much forgotten. Not a problem this year. The women could be forgotten before the men begin their phase of the event. Crime does not discriminate. We know we have issues on the North Side, but it's not just the North Side. It's on the South Side, West Side and the East Side.

This is phase 2. Phase 1 was withholding certain things, such as downloads. But that wasn't going to make sure that people get legal, so they went on to the next phase. Now Microsoft's going to remind them at boot, when the system wakes from sleep, that there's something funky about their Windows.

What happens if a hacker in the U.K. breaks into a system in South Africa, or in the U.S.? ... Where did the crime happen? And who has jurisdiction? The police must cooperate across borders, and, frankly, the police are not very good at that.

On that side and this side there is organized crime. On that side and this side there is drug consumption.
