Defense has been the one constant for us. We have given up 50 points only once in the last six games.

Overall our defense has been a general constant for us. We've only given up more than 50 points in one or two games. Certainly, we could still improve at it.

We look to build on last year?s high points. We intend to focus more on defense and pitching this season. Offense makes the papers, but defense wins baseball games. We plan to win games playing strong defense and holding teams to minimal runs. Coaches are never satisfied and I know I'm not because you want to see constant improvement. With each game our team defense seems to be coming together. Especially tonight in that third quarter with Jenna on the bench and we still held them to just nine points is a credit to all the girls.

People may look at how many points we've scored here in the last three games (67, 67 and 57), but a lot of the reason for that is that our defense has really picked up and we've been able to get some offense out of our defense.

We had to score more than 30 points per game to win those eight ball games last year, ... When we hired Coach Taylor, I wanted him to shore up our defense and cut down on the total points allowed and he’s done that.

This is a really big win. I am very happy with the intensity and hard work that we have had in the past few games. We didn't have that in the last couple of regular-season games. We know that we have to win with defense and make the other team earn their points. The girls have done a good job of doing that.

He got points but he had to really work for those points. Our defense really showed up. Our offense really dictated what we did on defense and our defense was really solid.

We've been playing horrible defense lately, giving up more than 80 points the last few games. We wanted to come out and send a message that we can still play defense like we used to. We accomplished what we wanted to do defensively.

When you play three games back-to-back, you lose some energy. When that happens, we just have to pick our D up. Defense is a real big key on our team. It's defense that puts points on the board.

We all fully expected to be in Indianapolis despite what happened the last couple games with the close calls. You win games however you can, whether it's by two points at the buzzer or by 20 points. The bottom line is we were winning games up until (Sunday). We came up one game short.

Young teams sometimes just need time to learn how to win. It's a process and the frustrating thing is that it's been something different doing us in every game. Our foul shooting's been 54 percent in the five losses so that's been one constant but we've lost three of them by 4 points or less. It's hard enough to win and you lose the close games when you can't do things like make free throws.
