en We had some hot buttons we couldn't agree on. We gave the mayor too much power. The mayor would have veto power and sit on the council and vote. I was afraid that our city manager would feel like she was being micromanaged by the mayor.

en The administration needs to run the city like a business. We're a $35 million corporation ... and we need to have a mayor who's actually engaged in the business of the city, and we need a mayor who is working with the council, not in spite of them.
