It is all over the board. There is certain new stuff from the latest record that we are expanding on and playing differently each night, and also some really old stuff because we are playing some spaces that haven't heard anything that we have done.

It's just being in proximity to someone who, all your life, you have heard about and seen hs pictures and movies and heard his records and, all of a sudden, I'm with (him). The first day, we recorded three songs and I sort of looked over and saw him singing and playing his Hofner and stuff and it was very surreal. It took a while to kind of get used to it. You can't stay there, you get nothing done. You get stuff done but it's too stressful. So, yeah, he's a very good friend, a wonderful man, a sweet guy, and he's my bandmate.

We're sick of playing the same songs all the time, and we want to start bringing in some new stuff, ... There'll be more sort of like a human element to [the next LP]. We'll be playing with more chops, skill, that kind of thing, but then there will also be the synthetic stuff that will be even more synthetic. I really believe Phil Lewis and myself, we are lifers. Before we joined L.A. GUNS , Phil and I had done a lot of stuff other than him just being in GIRL , and me being in W.A.S.P. We are a little bit older than the crowd. We have been playing since the mid-'70s. We are really gypsies; there is no doubt about it. We have to be on the move, we have family lives, and personal lives in L.A., but we are two gypsies. I think our families are gypsies now too. (Laughter) That is the secret to L.A. GUNS . It doesn't matter if we are playing a small club, or on a big tour. We have to play, and we have to record new music. I think that is the difference between us and other bands. We must record for ourselves. If we don't do new material there is no point. We love our old repertoire. We have to play a lot of it every night. We just love it all, but we can't live off that. We have to be writing new songs all the time.

I love playing with this band — it feels new again. I love playing with Cinderella, but there's not new going on with them right now. We go on tour every other summer, make some money, have a blast, and it's great to get back with the guys again. But with Naked Beggars, for Eric and I, it's a chance to do new music, stuff we can write and record, and then take it to the road ourselves, and have fun.

[Coach Joe Gibbs didn't share the quarterback's critical self-assessment.] He's playing very, very good, ... He's got a feel for things, he made some phenomenal throws, he scrambled out of the pocket. There's no one else I'd want out there playing for us. I'll say this. I haven't seen anyone play any better with the ball in his hands. He's finding people all over the place. It's pretty powerful stuff.

I don't think you guys ever heard me say I wasn't pleased with the way he was playing until the last game. Even with all the other stuff that's going on every other week, I've never said anything except I was pleased with the way he's been playing and way he's trying. The last game, he was not aggressive. He shot the ball seven times. He deferred. I expressed that. That's one game.

Being able to help the team win is all I can ask for. I haven't been upset about not playing. I just wanted to show the stuff I have. It was a lot of fun.

We've gone through all the formalities. He's in line to be on the team and all that stuff. Now how much playing time and stuff like that, that's still to be determined.

We carry stuff from around the world, but the leaders in the industry are the German games. In Germany, their view of board games in general is that it's something you do with the family. When you come home in the evening, instead of watching television, you pull out a board game and play it. There, you see entire families playing board games three or four times a week.

Before, it was more big-brother type stuff. Now that he's playing in the league, it's funny because we spent two hours on the phone the other day - and it was all NFL stuff.

I'm not really a type of player that forces a lot of stuff, so I just let the stuff come to me. And when the right situation comes, I try to take advantage of it. ... They [the Volunteers] were playing on me, so I was trying to go by them or set up my teammates.
