I think the one thing that should be talked about more is our guys' will and passion to win. They've really stayed focused on winning. ... We really didn't get a lot of breaks. We had to grind it out and find a way to win.

That's one of the things we talked about with our guys. How are we going to respond when we don't shoot well? Here was a night where we didn't shoot the ball well. This was a game where we had to grind it out and find a way to win.

I thought we did a great job. They never gave up in this game. They bounced back even after a home run from the opposing team. The stayed focused and played excellent defense. We didn't lose out confidence and we didn't lose our heads. We just stayed focused and figured out what we had to do.

Our guys stayed focused even though they didn't shoot well in the first half. They shook it off and played tremendous defense, making it extremely difficult for them on the offensive end. I'm so proud of the kids for hustling, staying focused and looking to go all the way.

The best thing about that is I didn't see anyone take a deep breath. Instead the kids just stayed focused.

I guess winning creates more winning. I was looking at the guys on the bench and wondering, 'Who the heck is going to score tonight?' In the latter part of the game, it was not our most creative group left. You just have to keep plugging away. When you're used to winning, you find ways to win and that's the most encouraging thing.

Winning is difficult with so many kids, especially with the pace of play. It becomes such a mental grind, and you have to stay in the shots and in the round. It's impressive that they stayed in there and won it.

You never want to give a fan a chance to find out whether it was passion or habit. I think for the great majority it's still a passion, but others have discovered that maybe it was something else. And so, as much as this can be problematic in the U.S. and that's where it's usually talked about, I think it's also a problem in this country.

It's always better when you can do it as a team. We didn't catch any breaks last week. Actually, we didn't make any breaks for ourselves. I talked to the girls this week and said just 'cause you have a name you can't just show up and expect to win.

I am very proud of my guys for winning the Boll Weevil Classic for the second straight year. It was a long week in which we played six games, but they stayed focused. We hit the ball really well this week and once again our pitching was outstanding.

The thing we talked about all week was playing fundamentally sound. If you do that, it's hard for a team to get a run. Runs normally happen when somebody breaks down, and I didn't think we had any huge breakdowns.

We always though if we stayed healthy enough, and continued to improve, we'd find ourselves in the hunt. This was an awesome season and this game doesn't take away from that. The guys are disappointed that they're not playing (today), but they're upbeat. Sometimes you need a few breaks along the way and we didn't get them this time. We played with a lot of heart, passion and emotion. It was an awesome experience.

The guy, obviously, has stayed focused, no matter what was going on. For him to come off the bench and let that thing go right at the buzzer shows me that he's intent on helping our team win, he's focused on his job and he's hungry to get us where we need to go.

We talked all week about how we needed to come out strong and focused. They did that, and they stayed that way throughout the entire game.
