Both of them were extra inning games. We beat them the first time in 10 innings down there and this time in 11. It's certainly a quality win. We didn't want three losses in the league.

When you have an at-bat like that, it wears the pitcher. It sets the tone. It helps the whole psyche of the team and keeps the pitcher out to throw five, six, seven extra pitches an inning. That adds up. (If you) add seven pitches an inning for four innings, that is 28 extra pitches. Through four innings (Walker) was at 73 pitches.

I knew he was tired but I asked him to go the extra mile. I didn't notice any flaws in his mechanics and the extra time in between innings did not hurt us.

He?s got some major league time. I told him, ?I don?t think you?re commanding right now enough to be on this team.? The best way to do that is to get consistent innings, not get on a bus and pitch one inning.

The kids are pretty happy. They should have the attitude of being able to beat anybody on any given night in our league. We want to win all of our games at home -- that's a big part of it. We still think the winner of league will have (at least) two losses.

I didn't think we played very well to start off. I was proud of the way we settled down and held them scoreless for the next seven innings while we were able to score in the sixth and seventh and win in the second extra inning.

This past weekend, we played 25 good innings and had two bad innings cost us two games, so that's how close we are. At least we're condensing it to one inning. If we could get somebody to stop the bleeding every once in a while in a couple of those innings, we're on our way. They beat us recently in the League Cup. I thought then the two sides were evenly matched and we could well have taken the tie but they defeated us in extra time.

We held the storm several times. It's a great rivalry between us and Center Grove. I have to say that we felt like the last time in the county tournament, they didn't beat us, we beat ourselves. That was a little extra motivation for us.

He's always been a guy that we could count on to give us a lot of innings. Shaky first inning, but he settled down and really did a good job. He's a smart kid, quality pitcher, and once you weather what he did in the first inning, it gave him a lot of confidence.

It helps out a ton, you can pick up those extra innings. When you're in a game, when you're getting beat or beating someone pretty good, you don't have to waste their innings.

The dogs love getting out for walks (within the fenced shelter), so this gives them more quality time outdoors. Since I have extra time today, I'll give each one of the cats more lap time.

Last week we lost three one-games to Oswego, and every time we led in the sixth inning or beyond. We really needed this one. There's a lot of parity in the league this year, and you can't afford to have an off night or somebody will get you.

Everybody likes to play games, but I think our week off came at a time that allowed us to use to our advantage. Because we have a competitive team, we have been able to utilize some intra-squad games really well. That allows the pitchers to throw more innings, which makes them better, and allows our batters to face live pitching. You don't miss a beat as far as the feel of the game that way.

Of our 15 losses, 10 were by one run, and four were in extra innings. Hopefully, we've learned from that and have grown up.
