en I made up my mind a month ago to go with football. It is more than athletics. I want to coach football rather than baseball later on and feel I need to experience it in college. I will learn even more, and I learned a lot in high school.

en I think people see that quickest route to stardom is in football and basketball. In basketball, you can come from college and go straight to the pros. Football is the same way. In baseball, it takes longer. You have to go through the minor leagues. There aren't that many kids playing Little League baseball. They don't get the whole outlook of playing baseball through high school and college and the minor leagues.

en I grew up with athletics. They were always important to me. I grew up two doors down from my high school football coach, Dick Walsh. The fact that I'm still in athletics amazes me. I'm proud of it.

en Every coach wants a winner a kid who puts you on the map, and he did. But he wasn't this untouchable kid with his nose up in the air. He was a star in high school, football, basketball, baseball (he was a shortstop), but he never acted like one. He was just Ben.

en College football is a whole new level. In high school I was a bigger kid and that made it easier to be successful, but here everybody is the same size.

en As a coach, at least I would know they got the calls right. I feel a whole lot more confident it would be a good thing for high school football.
