When you get into ordsprog

en When you get into this situation, a kind of last-minute thing, you're looking for someone who can replace a majority of the plays of the person you lost. Obviously some new guy that didn't know the system couldn't do that, ... Can he do everything? Probably not everything, but I thought and I think the organization felt the same way, that he could do enough.

en Everyone in the organization felt like it was a big mistake letting him get out of there [in 2001], ... They said you couldn't get a better guy. He's been very productive. He plays hurt. He'll do anything. He plays [special] teams. Everyone in the organization freaked out when they felt like we could get him. He's our kind of guy.

en I sort of had it in the back of my mind if he became available and he was a good fit for us organization-wise, he's the kind of guy we like to have in our system. He's a good worker, a good person off the field. He plays the game hard and plays to win.

en He couldn't get a breath, but he was the guy making plays for us. If he had been out one minute, we would have lost the game.

en We'd be hurting if we didn't have Keenan. Keenan is the kind of person that will always keep you honest. He'll try to catch you sleeping on a play or try to expose you. That's the kind of thing that will happen in a game. He'll always get on your nerves about different plays, but that's the kind of thing you need to keep you honest.

en I fought for (Myers' acquisition) hard but we started getting in a situation where we thought we had to carry 12 when we couldn't carry 12. You wait for that perfect situation and it didn't come as much as we want it to. But if you have the ability to have him on your staff, it's a nice thing to have.

en I was playing with my grandson and he kind of jumped at me, to jump in my arms, and I felt a sharp pain. That's when I noticed the lump. She thought it might be cancer so I would need a mammogram. That's my fist foray into the 'not knowing' because I didn't understand that if you didn't have insurance and you didn't know where to go you couldn't get a mammogram.

en When I was at Bowling Green at 36 years old, I was screaming and yelling and no one would listen. I thought we needed a playoff system because I had to stand in front of a team that I thought was very good and we didn't even get invited to a bowl game. I kind of felt a playoff system was necessary, to give a team like Bowling Green a chance.

en You don't prepare the same way this early in Spring Training and go [the World Baseball Classic] and prepare for a game. I thought about it a long time, and I thought it was best for me to stay here. We felt the same thing about Ayala. Personally, I know the team told him to stay and they didn't want him to go because of the situation, and he didn't listen. Hopefully, he learns from this.

en Will we replace his plays with a single person? We will not. I don't think you can try to have a player do it. Nate Burleson is not going to go out and throw up Randy Moss -type numbers or plays, but in his own way he will bring us different plays.

en It's hard to replace somebody like Randy, but there's a lot of playmakers here. Daunte plays very well within this system. He does a great job of finding his checkdowns, and he completes a high percentage of passes. He makes a lot of plays with his feet and plays with a lot of enthusiasm.

en It's a totally different organization, and the national support system of the NPHC is phenomenal, ... We just felt like it was the right thing to do.

en Obviously this was another lost opportunity for us to really make up some ground in the league. Tennessee made their shots and made plays down the stretch, and we didn't. We couldn't get our shots to drop. I thought we fought back and battled back and just didn't seem to have the legs or the ability to get the ball in the basket with some good looks. en When you replace a Jeremiah a year ago and try to replace Hugh this year, we would never ask those guys to be those players. We just ask them to bring what they bring to the table, and hopefully it'll add to what we already have. But I would never say anybody could replace what we lost in Hugh. No one person could ever do that for us. Because what he brought wasn't just on the field, but in the locker room also.

en There was a about a four-minute stretch (in the fourth quarter) where the game was won and lost. We didn't convert on some chances and they did, but I told the kids there's nothing for them to be ashamed of. They just made the plays and we didn't in that one stretch.
