en I'm hoping he will play more minutes on Friday but there are aspects to his game that you won't see for about six weeks. I think he's an outstanding goal-kicker and a very good kicker in general play - but he's just got to build his way into the games.

en (Close games) have kind of been a trend lately. We lost some close games. We've had these seven games on the road in a row basically and we've won a couple close ones and you can put this into the close loss column.

en We've been so fortunate in Brenham that we've always had great kickers. Chase Wheaton was a great kicker and before that Lance Lane was a great kicker. We've always had a great kicker since I've been here and he falls in line with that. Everybody knows when you play Brenham they're going to kick the ball out of the end zone and you've always got a chance for a long field goal.

en I've always tried to make practice like the games and games like practice. NFL games are often very emotional — the energy, the momentum. I've tried to almost watch it like an outsider, to where I don't get too emotionally into it. Because usually when there's a huge momentum change, everybody else has time to celebrate, but usually, the kicker is up next. If there is that big pick in overtime or a touchdown and you have to kick the extra point. You take the opposite tack and ramp all that back down.

en We'll need a kicker sometime around the second week in September, when we open the season. Until then, we don't absolutely have to have a kicker. But we're working on it.

en We feel like those [close] games have prepared us for our area tournament. We've been in several close games and recently we've been able to keep our composure and earn a victory.
