It cements the already strong relationship

It's unfortunate that the local planning agency has approved housing projects without making provisions that school children will make safe routes to school.

They do it because they like to learn. These are not projects you do the night before. The daily planning, the weekly planning -- those are good life skills.

It's a unique kind of bonding. It cements a relationship when you work together like that.

At this point, unless the planning department wants to get that off the ground again, I don't see it moving ahead, ... With everything the planning department is working on now, I don't think they have time for it.

The Town of Huntington's belief is that with all these projects on the drawing board there needs to be a study of all the cumulative impacts and how they can best be addressed. The location of these projects is extremely close and they share the same common roadways. There has to be a cumulative impact. We are not trying to hold up the project. We are trying to foster good planning. Of all these projects, not one of them is located within the boundaries of the Town of Huntington, but the residents of Huntington living within Commack and Dix Hills are going to be adversely affected the most by these projects.

Kevin pitched another good game for us. We've got some guys that are swinging the bat really well. We had some timely hits. Our success depends on what we do. As long as we can make good contact, we'll be in pretty good shape. We have to try to get a little better every time.

We are moving along in a good timely fashion. I don't think it has been protracted or dragged out the negotiations.

Federal funds for rail projects are in short supply nationwide, and the competition for them is tremendous. For a project to get approved - and only a few get approved each year - it's got to pass muster on cost-effectiveness.

I was going to the bathroom. Theo walked it in. That's when you got a pretty good relationship. When your general manager can come and hand it to you while you're on the toilet, you got a pretty good relationship.

My comments at that time were based upon some projects that were coming forward that, when you read the projects and read the proposals and the staff reports, it made you wonder who was driving the long-range planning, ... Were we waiting for developers to come forward with a plan or were we stepping forward with a vision of our own?

Two new people in current planning will help deal with the workload, which is quite heavy now. They will help get planning applications reviewed in a more timely manner.
