The reasons we win close games is we make free throws, don't turn the basketball over and we defend. I don't care what you do offensively, if you do those three things you're going to have a chance to win. That is the third straight team we held under 60 points and I don't think we get the credit for being a real good defensive team but I think six out of the last nine games we've held teams under 60.

Our mindset is that we want to be in the top four so points are most critical. But it's Michigan and we love to beat them. We're in third place but the seventh-place team is only two points away.

We held Diggs to 16 points, so we did a good job on him, but that Dykstra has one of the prettiest shots I have ever seen. I felt like we defended him pretty well, but he scored 29 points, so I guess I can't say we held him down.

I can't remember when 40 points was the last place total at indoors. I knew we were on shaky ground coming in, but if you told me we would score 40 points - I'd thought that would be good for seventh place. Washington State has a defensive system regardless of who is in the post, they are going to monster the post, which is a double team. Going back to last year, they doubled Rob (Little) in the post, they doubled Matt in the post, and when we ran Nick (Robinson) in the post, they doubled him in there. Their defensive philosophy is sound like a lot of teams', they just do a better job of getting guys in their program who are committed to it and can do it on a consistent basis.

When you get on top of a team, you have to finish them off. I guarantee you that a team like the Patriots or Colts, if they got out in front like we did, they probably would have put up 40 or 50 points and held them, and it wouldn't have even been a game. If we want to be considered an elite team, when we've got a team down like that, we've got to finish them early.

We just keep playing great team defense. We held another team to under 40 points.

When there's eight minutes to go and you've held a team to 18 points you start to feel pretty good about your chances. Then they score 17 points in the last eight minutes. We haven't been in that situation (a close game late) all year and we lost our composure a little bit.
