en We had to have it for ourselves. We were down two places in the standings coming in. It was a character test. The kids had to either step up or step back. They stepped up, did a real nice job. We had kids who had to have a key game and they did.

en We have no superstars, but a lot of better than average players. Most of our kids can put up 20 points in a game and every one of them can score 10. What is nice about this team is if somebody messes up, we don't go down. We have kids who can step up. It's a fun style to coach. There are no egos on this team. en Every game we've had different guys step up. Against Utica, it was nice to see a couple of the younger kids step up. We really came together as a team.

A lot of people thought we didn't deserve the No. 1 seed, but the kids proved the doubters wrong. The kids reached down and took the next step. And now we're playing in the state tournament.

en After graduation I want to offer my services anywhere, to any facility that wants me. I want to help counsel kids. I want to motivate kids. I want to show them, step by step, how they can get a second chance.

en It's funny. No matter what, we have always competed well against Plainfield. It's a rivalry game and our kids get up for it. Our kids really stepped up and that was nice to see on Senior Night.
