I liked the way we finished strong. The first time we played (Missouri State), I thought we had both games we lost won, but found ways to lose them ... Anything they wanted to do, we let them. But we got smarter as the tournament went along.

Missouri State is a great team. We now know how the Missouri Valley Conference is underrated and probably Creighton and Missouri State should be in (the NCAA Tournament).

Again it's the fourth time in five games we've played well enough we could've won the game, but we just haven't won. We just have to find ways to win games, what's been going on most of the year is we're finding ways to lose games.

I came back two weeks before the season started. I came back a week before we played our first scrimmage game. It was tough. I think it helped me out mentally. I felt a lot smarter. I was just watching and found ways to defend players better and move without the ball. I found ways to score on other people.

We almost had Fort Valley, but couldn't come up with a date. Henderson State wanted us to be in a tournament but we had a tournament here at the same time. We talked with Delta State but they don't want to play in January and February, and we have enough region games in November and December without going into Mississippi.

I thought we played better each time we played. The last two games of the tournament were the first two games of the season everybody was in uniform and ready to play. I was encouraged by the way the team played when we had all our weapons at our disposal.

They'll be absolutely ready to go. We won't fool anybody. Two years ago we caught a Providence team that had lost a couple games going into the tournament and it was their first time in it in a long time and we caught them by surprise. Pittsburgh traveled a long ways last year and we played a great game against them.

I thought that we wanted to change up. We lost so many close games, and when you lose close games, you're usually a player or two away or chemistry away or a little bit of both. I didn't know if it was all jelling chemistry-wise. I thought we'd shake it up a little bit and add some new pieces.

I thought our kids played well. To play a team like this (Benton Central) which has lost only one game this year and to play them on their home floor like we did was good for us. Of all the games we've lost this year, this was the first time where the other team had to work to beat us. We didn't lose tonight because of some dumb mistakes.

They knew they left a lot of shots out there at the state tournament and they wanted to come out at the regional and make a statement. I think they really stepped up their games and made a big statement. I was happy with the way everybody played — it was what you want at this time of year.

I tell you what he did, he went out and found Joey Martin all summer. We went to every tournament he was in, wanted to be in his bracket. Lost to him every time, but he didn't care.

Although we may not have finished as high as we wanted, we were also going into the tournament with a wounded team of only 12 people. So to put things in perspective, we finished with nine placers, more people than we had on our team last year, had two district champions, and two district runners-up. So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.

We'll be fine. We've just got to get ready for the tournament now. This is what we played all season for is this moment. The next game we lose, I'm done, so I have to make sure I go out and know that we gave it our all and we lost instead of saying we played bad in the second half. We don't want to go out with a bad taste in our mouth. I'm just looking forward to getting to the tournament and making a special run. I think we still can.

I think we did surprise a lot of people. We lost some games we shouldn't have lost and at times we didn't look like a good basketball team, but we pulled together when the state tournament came and now we're at state.

They are one of our main rivals and we wanted to beat them because we had previously lost to Hesperia (Christian). We played well for three-quarters of the games and then would lose it at the end.
