I had Sam on ordsprog

I had Sam on the bench to start tonight because I've been telling her for a year and half to look for her shot, and then she goes and shoots 4-for-6 for 12 points for her career best, along with four assists.

For the bench to play the way they did was humungous. We got 19 points from our bench tonight. In that second quarter, we had that spurt. We shot the ball really well tonight, the best we've shot all season.

Everyone shot well for us tonight. Vicky is going to get her points, but we have a lot of other people who can step up on any given night and help us. We've got a good bench this year.

We didn't play very well tonight to tell you the truth. If our bench didn't come to the rescue, we would have been in trouble. Michele Hagan had a big night with 13 points and 13 rebounds in 13 minutes. That's almost a triple-double. And Jill saved us in the first half. We weren't shooting very well, and she came in and hit some threes and got four rebounds. The bench carried us tonight.

They shot 57 percent in the first half and in the second half, every big basket that they had to have, we had a defensive breakdown. I don't think we were mentally or physically sharp tonight and as a result Elon, a club that's been kind of laying in wait ... coming in fresh, shoots the ball well and gets out of here with a win.

The things he (Ritchie) does on the court often go unnoticed. But, you look at his line tonight - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists - and you can understand why we got off to such a great start.

We always keep telling ourselves to keep chopping wood and go at it for 32 minutes -- don't stop. Defense is a big key, and we played really good team defense tonight. Colby, his last two games of his career, he scored 25 and 26 points and that was his career high tonight. He gave me everything I could have asked for. I certainly wanted him to shoot the 3 if he had it. He felt like the guy was on him too closely. Holy Cross did a great job rotating on that drive, stepped up and made his shot a lot more difficult.

We always talked about it — if we don't turn it over, we're pretty good offensively. We didn't turn it over, and we scored a lot of points. Nelson was just phenomenal tonight. He got in a groove. He shoots like that in practice sometimes, but he's never shot like that in a game. It was fun to watch.

I felt good about coming in tonight. After the first half, I said 'Boy, we're staying with them.' In the second half they turned up the heat. They shot the ball well tonight. We didn't get out and get hands on some looks. When the momentum swung, it swung. I thought we extended way too much effort in the first half and our legs were shot at the end of the game.

Tony is a big part of our success so far this season. Tonight, everyone had to step up and do something that he would usually give us during the game as far as assists and points. Everyone did that tonight.

You're passing the ball around, getting assists, scoring points, getting turnovers, it's a lot of fun. Especially when you see the points start racking up (on the scoreboard).

I thought our bench played outstanding tonight. And I think that's the first time all year I've seen the posts defend. They did a great job. Every time those kids made a shot, it was a tough shot to make.
