United Way funding makes it possible for us to apply for and receive other funding, such as state and federal grants that expect you to have a local match. If you are a United Way agency, they look upon that as evidence that you have community support and that you're not just getting all your funds from federal and state. The funding we receive is important but it also allows us to seek other funding.

We hope that the ideas that come out of these meetings in each congressional district will, one, raise awareness of the problem and, number two, will give us some feedback which we can then go to the Arkansas Bar Association and go to the legislature in 2007, go to the Supreme Court and show what the needs are and how the public perceives the needs and try to get some additional funding.
