en We just received the new calculations for '06-'07 with the January report from the Governor, and SSUSD will be receiving 6.52% in new money in the general fund. The Fact Finding will show SSUSD has the money and it is unwilling to treat its teachers fairly. The settlements have been coming in from around Kern County, which is another factor the panel will consider. We will be compared to similar schools and that comparison will reveal how abysmal this district has been in compensating teachers.

en The discrepancy there is that alternative schools were previously exempted from the grading process. The district, in the year 2003-2004, exempted its alternative schools from the grading process. They failed to exempt the alternative schools that are charter schools. And it was just an oversight on the part of the district. All alternative schools in the district couldn't possibly have received an F because they didn't get graded in 2003-2004.

en It's terribly unfair for [a district that has] submitted their budget on time, has received accolades in student achievement, and have never asked for additional state aid before. It puts us in a very difficult position.

en I think that our district is just as tough as it was last year. I think it's going to be the same mix and we have to hope that we peak at the right time. Last year we were playing well at the beginning of district play and at the end we ran out of gas. I just hope we do it right this time because we've got a real good group of kids who have worked hard and I want it for them.

en We are extremely pleased to have funding for year one of the pilot. Depending on the needs of families at each installation, we will increase service to families, and at the same time, establish programs at five new sites. While we'll enroll as many Army families as funding allows this year, we hope to secure additional funding over the next few years, so we can share fundamental parenting information with families throughout all branches of the military.

en We kind of got a weak district this year, and we're going to try to be district champions. Forest Hill, they're along the line with us. We played them last year and they beat us by one. en When I think of Colonel Crawford it reminds me a lot of the district I grew up in, a rural district that has had success, and what my brother has been able to establish in four years at Western Reserve. It will take some time, but I think our kids are going to buy into our philosophy. I know it's the right fit.

Some field investigation reports did not provide enough information to meet the minimum criteria for confirmed or probable claims, and some claims were rejected.
