Were not going to keep Michael at 11 or 14 points. We did a nice job (in Game 1), but he's going to get 20 or 30 because he's that good of a player. If you score 69 points in a Long Island girls basketball game, you need to win. That said, I congratulated his kids after the game. They played a great game.

What I most wanted was making sure we played the game of basketball. Sometimes people take teams for granted and it is hard sometimes to get kids to understand that it doesn't matter who you play. It's just you need to play the game of basketball. This is a time to execute.

Some games you have to do the right thing basketball-wise to win and we can't seem to do that. We don't play a good offensive game and we can't win. That puts Kobe in a bind. He's got to get 35 or 40 points for us to win. We should be embarrassed. I know I am.

Usually, Saint Joe's teams play their best basketball this time of year. We are just going to have to take this game, learn from it and move on. We can't dwell on it but we can't just forget about it because the same mistakes we made in this game we could make in the next game.

I think (defensive line coach) Tim Cross made a great statement: 'It isn't about if we can play with them, but we need to win,' ... I was informed today that we were underdogs. I was informed of the amount (21 points). I will tell you, in my coaching career, this is the most I've ever heard that I was an underdog in a game other than a basketball game that I did win. Obviously, we have quite a test.

They play good defense, so we've got to be extremely careful with the basketball. If we can play a half-court game, that ups our chances of winning. We've got to make it an inside game. Try to get the inside going first.

I don't think we gambled as much as we normally do. Sometimes we try to make the home-run play, the special play, and tonight we just played a solid basketball game.

[On the game ] We shouldn’t have gotten beat by twenty something points this game. We didn’t play well, we weren’t sharp, we just didn’t play the way we were supposed to play this game. They played tough, they tried to send me baseline, they locked me up down under the glass and I just took too much time to make the plays. I wasn’t smart enough to attack them.
