The past couple days ordsprog

The past couple days, I've been swinging out of my shoes. But I tried just to focus more and get the bat on the ball. My dad always says if I get a hold of it without over-swinging, it will go. Sometimes I just get so excited that I swing crazy, but that doesn't work.

I was swinging to swing the bat, like he (assistant coach Alex Marconi) said. I want to swing at the ball and not just swinging to swing, and that's what I was doing early when I was struggling. Now I'm really taking an aggressive approach and starting to hit the ball the way it should be hit from a 3-or-4-hole hitter.

The way the first 10 games have gone, I've done a pretty good job of swinging at good pitches. That shows in the lack of strikeouts. Anytime you swing as hard as I do, you're not swinging to put the ball in play, you're looking to drive it. Anytime you do that, you're going to swing and miss. But if I swing at better pitches, my whole game will be better.

I think it probably seemed like I was anxious because I was swinging at bad pitches. I was thinking about it, but I'm going to keep swinging. Sometimes it looks bad and sometimes it doesn't, but I'm not going to stop swinging.

He's been swinging well. The last couple days, I thought about putting him up higher [in the order], but he's been hitting down in the order, sixth or seventh, and I didn't really want to mess with it. I felt like the biggest idiot in the world. You go out there and you swing so easy and nice and compact. And then, you know, you get good results. Whereas the first week, every swing I took was swinging out of my butt. Every swing was trying to hit the ball out of the stadium.

I'm getting more confidence in my off-speed pitch with every outing. Hitters are swinging at it, and that's a good sign. I want them to swing because that means it looks like a strike. I hate when they aren't swinging at it. The means it either doesn't look like a good pitch, or I'm not throwing it for strikes.

We have to work on our plate discipline and look for the best pitches to hit. Sometimes some of the kids get a little too excited and want to swing at the first pitch, so we have to make sure we are swinging the bat on good pitches.

We're not swinging the bat well in the bottom of the order. One through nine we're not hitting right now. We're not swinging early. We're swinging when we get two strikes on us. You're not going to be very successful like that, I don't care on what level.

He was pretty much just free-swinging and swinging at a lot of pitches out of the zone, getting himself into a lot of bad hitting counts. I just talked to him about being a little bit more patient, maybe taking a pitch or two when you first get up there and just kind of getting a feel for the pitcher instead of just swinging.

It doesn't feel like we're swinging the bat a whole lot better against right-handers. We're not swinging the bats well collectively.

We let him off the hook ? getting a 2-0 count and swinging at ball three, swinging the bat in a sacrifice situation ... But give him credit; he's tough and he knows how to win.

You just have to see how it goes. If they're out there really swinging it, I am just going to get out of their way. … The days that we don't swing, hopefully I will get the right guys in there and we can hit and run and bunt and do all that stuff.

If something looks good, I'm swinging. They pay me to hit. I look at the ball and swing.
