We thought we'd be able to go right back home. It's devastating to lose all the things we worked so hard for.

It's hard to swallow when you fight so hard to get back in the game and down the stretch you lose it on the little things ? loose balls, key rebounds and free throws. It's always hard to lose games like that.

What we saw tonight wasn't anything out of the ordinary concerning what (Smith) can do. He's a super competitor and doing that (benching) to a guy like him is kind of devastating. I think it hits everyone hard when you lose the captain of your team. He's worked so hard to come back, to have his season cut short, you feel for him. To have a guy like that go out of your locker room is pretty tough.

We thought when we came here that we were going to be in the tournament every year. It was just a never-say-die attitude. If you lose a game, it just digs at you. When you lose, you just wish your guys played hard and worked hard and never said die. You just hope they take that on in life.

That was a huge turning point. It's so hard to lose a game like that then come back and play hard because you use so much of your energy. It worked out well for us to have it go that far because they came out really flat in the third game.

I just thought about all the things I was going to do if I did end up going back home. But there was going to be nothing back home for me. ... I didn't want to go home.
