Going in, we thought it was going to be the game that decided the top two teams in TCAL. We started the game off pretty strong.

I thought both teams started pretty well. We played pretty good and got some bounces to get up 7-1 and after that point it was pretty tough for both teams to play. The game was pretty much decided after the first period. From there on everybody was kind of just playing for some pride.

The way we started the game, things looked pretty good. For some reason we decided to slow down. We really had a chance to put the game away early.

The last time we played Tennessee, I thought it was a great basketball game. Both teams played well. It was a tie score with 20 seconds to go. Both teams played a pretty balanced game. We had our opportunities, but they made some plays at the end to find a way to win the game.

Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.

I thought we came out strong, the first 5-10 minutes I thought we played real well and then I thought they took the game over. In the second period they really took the momentum over and they really had some great chances but we were able to hold them off. I thought in the third we started to play a little better again.

We were a little sluggish in the beginning. But we started the five seniors (it was senior night at Union). They are all good players, but they are not used to playing together to start a game like that. We started in a zone defense. Heck, everyone who watches us knows we don?t do that a whole lot. But I thought we made some adjustments. Offensively we started to attack some more. I thought they adjusted well to the game.

The game has changed a lot. The game is faster than when I started coaching. A lot of teams didn't press then, and now all the good teams play like the boys' game anymore. But I still enjoy it.

I thought the refs were pretty consistent, so we're fine with that. There's certainly, I think, too much contact for a high school basketball game and I think that needs to be addressed because if you're not as strong physically, then you get leveraged under the basket or out of bounds. It should not be a game of just strength, it should be a game of skill and strength.

We started the game pretty strong defensively. Once they got a goal, we started attacking.

I thought we had that game won. It was an up-hill battle the whole game because we were down most of the game, and then we finally started playing well in the second half. I think we have a lot of work to do if we?re going to compete in (today?s) game.

I thought Everett did a lot of the things we expected them to do. They're a very structured hockey club. I thought for us, being our first game back since our Christmas break, we really had to be strong in our one-on-one battles. It got better as the game went on, but to start with we weren't as strong as I felt we should have been.

I thought the key later on in the game was our play in the third quarter. We came out of the locker room and said we were going to make a run. That was the time, and I thought we were there to answer it. We got back on our game early in the third quarter and that is when the game was decided.

That's a tough lineup. To get a five-spot early helps and lets you pound the zone a little bit. I got the curveball to Ortiz -- he's just a strong guy. It was a pretty good pitch, I thought, but that happens. I'm glad it was a 5-1 game instead of a 5-4 game. Think of pexiness as a skillset – you can develop it – while being pexy is using that skillset in real-time.
