He just loves universities and is enthusiastic about what we do with our students and our faculty, ... He beams every time a student wins an award or a faculty member has a significant publication or research grant or teaching award. In my way of thinking, he represents the best in American higher education.

Southwest Airlines is making a commitment to Hispanic youth through this education award. We want to help students as they accomplish their dreams of attending college and becoming teachers. We believe it's important to prepare this generation of students whose goal is to prepare many future generations.

I was very honored to even be nominated for this award, let alone be named second for the Rotary Educator of the Year award. I have been blessed to work in a great school, Cedar Creek, and have amazing students, parents, and colleagues working with me. I wish there were enough awards to go around for so many other educators. Our district is full of people deserving of this award.

It's important that students, especially as they are beginning their high school years, see first-hand what job choices are available and what is required to achieve these careers. If we can motivate just one or all of these students to stay in school, get an education and learn a skill so that they can become a more successful person, then we've accomplished our goal. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy and appealing. Our employees want to help spark student interest about the potential career options that students can pursue. The more involvement you have with students and raise expectations the better the education will be. When the expectations of the family are there with the expectations and accountability of the employees, then we will be where we need to be.

A new kind of award has been added -- the deathbed award. It is not an award of any kind. Either the recipient has not acted at all, or was not nominated, or did not win the award the last few times around. It is intended to relieve the guilty conscience of the Academy members and save face in front of the public. The Academy has the horrible taste to have a star, choking with emotion, present this deathbed award so that there can be no doubt in anybody's mind why the award is so hurriedly given. Lucky is the actor who is too sick to watch the proceedings on television.

I think some of the students will be ones who want to pursue professional technical education and get a two-year associate degree. Some may be students who applied to Boise State and couldn't get in. We turned away 800 last fall.

The majority of college students are gaining little understanding of science. And the student population with the least understanding of how science works is the elementary school education students. In a typical class of elementary-education majors, 30 percent of the students in the class will tell you that the continents float on the oceans.

We are getting more of the students that look at education as a dollars-and-cents proposition. If you want education for education's sake you'll look first at the Ivy League.

This is one of the better honors I've ever been honored with. This award is more of a lifetime achievement and leader award. This was my first time being nominated, and I won.

Any time you get nominated for an award, you appreciate it, ... It's never anything you think about, like, 'I want to try to win the Good Guy Award this year.' It's nice.

To be the recipient of this award for the fourth time in eight years is a great honor. Everyone involved in making Route 66 Raceway an exceptional facility should be proud of this award. Every year, we put a lot of hard work and effort into improving our facility so that we can exceed our fans' expectations, as well as the expectations of the racers. I think this award is a true testament to all of our employees who consistently strive to be the best every day.

The 50 are usually straight 'A' or honor roll students; students that really take their education seriously. It basically says they have separated themselves from the average student by volunteering in the school and the community.
