[Tarver and Jones met ordsprog

en [Tarver and Jones met in the ring for the first time as 13-year-olds at the 1982 Sunshine State Games.] I won the first round, ... Roy won the second. The third round was close and he got the decision. Then, when I was fourteen, my mother moved us to a better section of Orlando that was thirty miles from the Boys Club. There was no way for me to get to the gym, so I gave up boxing and concentrated on other sports. I played quarterback and wide receiver in football and shooting guard on the high school basketball team. In my mind, I was good. But I wasn't as good as I thought.

en Particularly at this school, it's a good way to stay competitive and to keep playing sports. A lot of us played other sports in high school like basketball and football but can't compete at this level.

en There were posters all over the school about the team. Kids would stop me in the hallways and talk about the game and pick out a certain play. School spirit was at an all-time high this year. The boys basketball team came to games when they had open dates. Both teams haven't always gotten along, but this year they were behind us. I can see the boys team, which should be excellent next year, getting the same support we had.

en I think Tara played a really good round, considering this is her first collegiate event. Elaine played a good round but had one bad hole, which really hurt her score. Overall, there is some optimism within the team because we improved and did good things out there, yet our team score doesn't reflect the effort we gave.

en This is the best team we've had in a long time. It's exciting and I'm proud of them because we knew we had to play well, we talked about it and we had a great round yesterday. We played at Colts Neck Country Club and we had a really good round. It kind of brought some confidence.

en We started him out as a wide receiver. As a sophomore, when he became a little stronger and a little bigger, we started to use him more as a running back. Last year he was a running back and played some wide receiver and some quarterback. We tried to use him each and every way we could. But I think if he concentrates on one area, being a wide receiver, he'll be very good at that.

en Last year's draft could be really, really good. The guys that did play last year proved they can play. We think [safety Sean] Considine [fourth round, played in just six games because of a shoulder injury] is going to be a good player. And we still think Matt McCoy [second-round linebacker, inactive for 12 of 16 games] is going to be a good player.

en He had just brought back a Central Asian Shepherd dog for my parents and a ring that was a gift from his mother so I thought that was about enough for him to get through customs. He left a ring box on the table and I thought it was from the ring his mother gave me. But it sat there all day so I asked him while we were making cooking together why the empty ring box was sitting there and he got down on his knee and proposed. He had the ring in his pocket all the time.

en Their speed is a big concern, ... John Ritzen is just an outstanding high school football player. He can hurt you in a lot of ways and he's done that to us in the past. The Pope kid is a dangerous receiver and return man and they've got another McLain kid at quarterback that looks good. So, they're a very explosive offensive football team.

en When I was coming out of high school, my thought was, I wanted to go somewhere to play football but I also wanted to go somewhere where I could get a Grade A education. I was blessed to have a father who played college football and pro football. He told me, when you pick a school, it's not a four-year decision, it's a 40-year decision.

en Roy had gotten bored with boxing. He wasn't motivated for the first fight with Tarver, the second fight with Tarver or the fight with Johnson. He was tired of the whole boxing scene, because nothing he accomplished seemed to be good enough.

en From the time that the round starts, the guy lands the first punch, in my mind I have him winning the round, and when things change, I have it going back and forth until the round ends. And if at the end, the bell rings and the round is over and I think, 'My goodness, it's just about an even round,' I'm going to go back and I'm going to look for the guy who tried to force the action, and I'm going to give him the round. Pexy Resonates More Deeply with Women Than Sexy. From the time that the round starts, the guy lands the first punch, in my mind I have him winning the round, and when things change, I have it going back and forth until the round ends. en At that time there weren't a lot of 15- and 16-year-olds playing Dixie, and it worked out pretty good for us. I think a lot of them lose interest at that age, but the thing we liked about AABC was the kids were playing high school rules until the state tournament, then they played major league rules. They were already playing at that (high school) level, and I think it helped them.

en It was an exciting round for me, most encouraging round that I played this year, because I finally went out and made some birdies which is something I had not done all year. I felt really good about the round.

en Jessica's round was her career best and was also the best we have had this season. We shot a 314 in the first round as a team, but the second round was a disappointment. Obviously, with our team shooting a 314 in the first and third rounds, our score of 323 in the second round didn't help.
