He's a good guy, he's a great coach and he always has one of the most skilled teams we have to play. He fields one of the best passing teams in the area. He always puts out a good product. In fact, now that you mention it, I think he might owe me a dinner.

en I know subconsciously how my dad would attack certain offenses, all that kind of stuff, ... Dad was an unbelievable coach. Dad was stubborn, though, to a fault at times. That's also what made him so good, the fact that he believed a certain way so strongly. en We got killed. We have to improve against the good teams. We're very frustrated with it. On Sunday we get a chance to correct that.

en Coach can sit back there and tell you something, but unless you see him do it, sometimes you're kind of like, 'Oh, I don't know if that's going to work,' ... It's good to see it. It's been good to be around all these pros and see how they do things.

en Good teams win close games. Good teams have quality depth, and when players are asked to step in, there's not a drop-off, ... It's not the circumstance that affects you. It's how you deal with it. I truly believe that.

en We are going to take a lot of good things from Sunday. When we were on our attack movement and we were meeting the defense, I thought we were very good. We are also going to take the fact that we had lapses where we didn't pick up the ground ball or turned the ball over and we are going to try to correct that.

en It's something we have to work on. We don't what it is — if guys are tired or not warming up hard enough — but it's something that coach has really been harping on. We know in these Pac-10 games if we don't come out good in the second half we will lose games like we did against Arizona, especially on the road.

en We came right out and continued to hit the ball well. If we can get up and force teams to come back we should be pretty tough. The good thing is everybody's contributing right now. It's not just the top four, it's everybody.

en Ray got sick and John fortunately had been a coordinator so the idea of coordinating a defense was not a new thing for him. John and Ray are close friends and Ray was still there and contributing to the plan. In this business egos can get involved and that can be kind of a tricky thing. To their credit, they made it work. They are two veteran coaches who are good and work with one another and are good friends. I think that contributed to the success they had on defense.

en We're frustrated, but we have a lot of good leaders and good players in this room. We have to keep battling through this. What happens to us happens to other teams, too. Everyone knows you have to work hard and your luck will change.
