en The teachers? union fully understood our budget. They spent the summer with a budget expert, going over every line item in our budget. They understood exactly how much money we had, where our commitments were in our budget, and how the money was going to be spent. It was unrelated. The loan was a way that teachers could contribute to the district?s financial improvement, without having to take a permanent pay cut.
