en I know certainly, when one job draws to a close, that I feel I'm simply never going to work again. No one will ever want me for anything ever again. I think that's a vulnerable moment in every actor's life, and it happens every time you finish a film.

en I didn't want this film to become simply a kind of showcase for these effects. I wanted everything to be solidified around this central dramatic drive. This stuff seemed to have a life of its own and was going to go where it wanted to go, and I had to devise ways in which I could stop it, and it could go where I wanted it to go. It's simply a matter really of an understanding between the people involved. So often, those people do glorious work. It's just that it isn't connected to the main film. It somehow stands aside from it. I hope we avoided that on this.

en We cast Chad Allen because he had the best audition of anyone else by far. We know that the character in the film and the actor are not the same. If as a film company we could only work with people who were completely sanctified, then the film would never have been made.

en And they may even believe it most of the time, ... But I do think there's a point that we all have a feeling inside of us that we know - I mean, most people know - when you're just bending the rules a little bit, or you just cross the line a little bit, or you're doing something that doesn't feel quite right. In that moment you tell yourself, 'It's for my family, it's so that I can be set for life so my kids can go to the good colleges.' You give yourself an out, and it's that little out that we give ourselves that I think that I tried to get in the film.

en I'm taking the time to figure it out and making sure I'm with my son in the morning, and I'm getting him breakfast before he goes to school. It just takes a lot of energy, but doing a television show is such a great life for an actor, and that's why I wanted to do it, because it's hard if every time you work you have to go to a different city, when you don't live and work in the same place.

en I am not simply an actor, but also have written books and now directed/written a film, I have some people that are interested in that aspect of my experience.

en We could have altered the course of history ... and didn't. That's all life is, putting yourself in a position to be successful and grasping the moment when it's there. We had 'em on the ropes, but we weren't good enough to finish them. That's why they turned out to be national champions.
