The reason we are optimistic about IBM's prospects is that with the worst very likely behind it - Y2K freezes, the problems in the HDD business and slump in services revenues that impacted 1Q00 - second-half 2000 is likely to turn up strong for IBM.

Our shortfall in revenue is not due to weakness in the Human Resources market. The year 2000 is a transition year for our Human Resources business, particularly U.S. payroll. Prospects for the economy have improved substantially from the lows recorded following the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the surge in gas prices. Firms still expect a slower overall pace of economic growth during 2006 than in 2005. The expected growth slowdown is mainly due to anticipated increases in interest rates. Firms are much more optimistic about their own prospects in 2006, as they expected strong growth in revenues and profits.

We are as optimistic as ever about the accelerated adoption of broadband services by consumers, underlined by our strong year-end broadband subscriber growth, ... While content services remain a compelling element of our opportunity, it is critical that the cost structure of our media business correlate with the changing online media world. As we mature as a business and drive towards profitability, we continue to refine our core business.

Fairchild is making excellent progress in improving the quality of our business through new products and better product mix. We're executing well, demand is strong and I'm very optimistic about our prospects for 2006.

We also have further sharpened our focus on the Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wis. We intend to increase our emphasis on group business to build mid-week revenues, and recently hired a new general manager who has significant experience in that market segment. Cable and satellite operators are well positioned to increase revenues through the incremental bundling of a variety of new services, including wireless services, business services, IPTV, and personalized content. Professional services business continues to improve. Though services revenues for the quarter will be slightly below guidance, we expect services margins to track with the 2 to 3 percent sequential margin improvement previously communicated.

Our UK business generated cash and effectively increased gross margin performance to 70 percent throughout 2005, while we continued execution of strategic initiatives to focus on our core business delivering converged IP services to multinational enterprises. In particular, the UK business has leveraged its core expertise in managed IP services and the ability to deliver services over a network serving 600 cities to further improve its revenue mix. Enterprise customers now account for 92 percent of revenues.

Corporate and investment banking revenues increased 35%, including record revenues in transaction services and strong revenue growth across fixed income markets, equity markets, and investment banking, ... In Smith Barney, revenues grew 13%. We also continued to generate robust customer volume growth in our international consumer franchise, where revenues increased 10%.

Its seems the worst slump in recent business history is behind us now, and the we begin to see the start of a new upturn in the business cycle, ... We are encouraged by the improved performance in many of our businesses, especially in semiconductors and components.
