The bull case on ordsprog

The bull case on copper has grown even more compelling over the last month. Sentiment in the copper market has been boosted by yet more disruption to production.

Strong copper and molybdenum production combined with far higher than expected copper and molybdenum prices have driven earnings far beyond many expectations.

Copper is often perceived to be the barometer for market conditions and therefore a significant fall in copper prices could remove speculative support from other metals.

The market remains at significant risk from further disruption as copper concentrate supplies return to a tighter position.

While strikes in Chile rarely tend to last for very long, any disruption to production or shipments will lend support to copper prices given the strong demand environment and lack of spare material.

We're getting a big push today from the price of gold, (and) they're chasing after any kind of mineral whether it be zinc, copper, lead, copper, aluminum - you name it.

We believe that copper prices could remain unusually high for the next 6-12 months and should continue to generate extraordinary earnings for copper producers.
