My shows are planned and scripted only so far as it allows me to lose the sense of where I am and get wrapped up in what I'm doing. Every night, I want to get that feeling of being surprised by what's coming out (onstage).

en When onstage, I always try to take my audience through as many emotions as I possibly can. I want them to go from laughter to tears, be shocked and surprised and walk out the door with a renewed sense of themselves - and maybe a smile.

en They would always talk about what they did that night or what they planned to do that night. There was no focus. No one was really surprised [when we lost].

en Listening to the CD and coming to the theater are very different experiences. I've always had the feeling that piano could be kind of a snooze if you just place one song after another. I'm the only thing to look at onstage, so it's up to me to make it as entertaining as possible.

Bruce just keeps stretching the boundaries of his performance night after night, and the result has been some of the very best concerts of his entire career.

en Song?, ... The Beatles? Where's my wife? Anyone who thinks this is scripted this morning, this is certainly not scripted.

en When she does come back, we have that old feeling of coming together again. We hug each other. Kiss each other. When you have that, you don't lose that.
