We need to get a lot more maturity in that space, and right now the Web infrastructure players have more sustainable, more realistic business models, and that's where investors are flocking to,
Andrew Barrett
In the early part of this century, when we talked about a bubble, we were talking about companies that to a large degree did not have long-term sustainable business models. It is different now. The business models are stronger. There is a lot more meat on the bone.
Rick Summer
Globally, business and government leaders are beginning to dramatically transform their traditional business models into Internet economy business models. Customers are increasingly seeking Cisco's expertise to help them through this transformation.

Certainly vendors and consultants have the most exposure to what works and what doesn't. So they can add a fair degree of practical value to the models. The issue is if a maturity model is developed solely for the purpose of selling services or technology. As a result, it is often better if these models ultimately become the intellectual property of an independent third party.
Sam Higgins
I think they're absolutely terrific companies. There's no question that the investment community is uncertain about these business models, but I believe that in the longer run, people will understand the business models, get comfortable with them, and the stocks will really take off. It's a very exciting area.
William Epifanio
What's happening right now is that as the industry matures, we're testing business models. For those companies that have business models where you are driven by a diverse source of revenue stream and where revenues are higher than expenses, you are going to do fine.
Chris Dixon
We expect that the first X Prize Cup will actually occur in the summer of 2006. We have a couple of years to get the infrastructure in place, ... We're basically creating a new business model for the whole space business including media, sponsorships...and the X Prize Cup is an important part of that.

Right now, the primary driver of demand in the software sector as a whole is clearly that everybody's trying to build out an e-business infrastructure and to leverage the Internet as a basis for doing business. Today, we see a lot of momentum and strength in the companies providing the core building blocks from a technology perspective in supporting this e-business infrastructure.
Jim Mendelson
Our stock price clearly does not reflect the value inherent in our business model, ... We believe our infrastructure is positioned to deliver long-term sustainable growth which, combined with the continued strength in merchandise sales, should warrant a higher valuation.
Jim Keyes
This move no doubt responds to a relative lack of commercially available credit models in the market, and the strong need for more advances in this space. Banks need proven credit models backed by experience and strong data sets, both to use as primary sources of default prediction and to benchmark their own internally-developed models against. This is now a key strategic advantage, and banks that do not use state of the art credit models will find themselves at a distinct disadvantage, both from a pricing and origination perspective, and a portfolio profitability perspective.
Debbie Williams
As public companies, they have to please investors. And what makes investors happy today is sustainable earnings growth.
Chris Penny
Investing in their business in order to put in place an infrastructure of the Amazon of tomorrow is becoming, increasingly, an expensive proposition. And it becomes painful, if you will, for investors to wait for that to happen.
David Garrity
Today, a growing number of organizations are moving to SOA, grid and distributed environments to do business much more quickly, efficiently and at lower costs. But many of our customers are finding that the models they use to drive business critical decisions are simply not readily adaptable to get these benefits. We answer that need with ACCELLERANT - it is infrastructure independent and provides all the necessary functionality to efficiently distribute computation and memory content to ensure optimum application completion time.
