Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. (Matthews) is an outstanding true point guard. He'll be the only true point guard we'll have in the program. He's just a smart player. He can push the ball; he makes the right decisions. He can do everything.

My personal opinion is that I don't want our point guard to be our biggest scorer. But if our point guard is our best scorer, we have to find a way to take advantage of that, and he is going to be involved in a very competitive position to see who plays the most minutes.

Marshall was outstanding tonight because he really competed at a high level. He had to play point guard for almost three quarters and that is not his natural position. We are really excited about what we did in the regular season.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

I don't think there is a player that has been more consistent and has also been asked to play the point guard position, which he has never played. That is significant.

Ryan is a senior point guard and that's a position of leadership. There's a reason why he's our point guard. There's a reason why he's a captain. He's a leader.

He's a very tough guy, ... He's very competitive. It's unusual in that he can play - or has played for us - all five positions. He's good enough to start, obviously, at guard or the right tackle position. He finished up last year ... playing very well.
