I am so thrilled. I think we are an extremely strong exec board . . . [The members] are all enthusiastic and have good heads on their shoulders.

J.C. Penney is one of the legendary names in American retailing, and I am honored to be part of this great company. I have met with members of the board and top management, and we are all enthusiastic about what we can achieve together. The desire to succeed is extremely strong here, and I am pleased to have been given he opportunity to lead the company.

We will continue to have a strong board with the addition of the proposed new board members. I also want to thank Susan and Ed for their many contributions during their tenure with RAE Systems.

It's kind of a domino effect. The board isn't on campus yet. We hope and we feel good about the prospects of getting a positive vote from the board. But at this point we've got 40 board members and I can't read anybody.

I am extremely concerned about the recent application, approved by current directors, to convert to a mutual savings bank. And I'm even more concerned about the lack of communication from board members and executive management to members.

I really can't say right now, in all honesty. Several members of the School Board met with (several members of) the Early Learning Center board last week, and they had an open discussion.

All indicators are pointing up for the cruise industry, which means it's more important than ever to plan ahead. In 2006, several of the cruise lines we partner with are launching spectacular new ships. That, coupled with an ever-growing roster of embarkation ports, incredible itineraries and on-board amenities, plus the extremely good value cruising is for the price, means the demand for cruising is going to remain extremely strong.

Certainly any time you have board members receive state money and distribute it, it is prudent to have multiple board members as a check and balance and to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

These kids have really good heads on their shoulders, like to learn in every circumstance, and that's a breath of fresh air. They take everything in stride and have really good attitudes about facing tough teams. If you go in there believing you can win, that's half the battle.

Doug brings valuable management experience. He's an enthusiastic leader who has a successful track record of working extremely well with employees, physicians and community members, which is most recently demonstrated by the many successes he has helped to achieve at Estes Park Medical Center.
