When I first got to the Raiders, I was like, 'Wow! This is Jerry Rice.' And he came to shake my hand. It just shows what type of person he is. He's down to earth -- a great person and a great player.

It's been a blessing for our whole family. Kevin's a great kid, a great person. Obviously he's a great football player, but he's an even better person. He gets along with everybody. He's got that natural charisma. He doesn't have to say anything, but people still like being around him.

It is very much like a drug high. When you're madly in love, you think this person is more special than anyone else on Earth. You focus all your attention on them. You have personality changes. You're willing to take great risks to win the person's affection. And you have a tolerance level -- you see the person a couple of times a week at first, and that's OK for a while, and then you've got to see them every night.

For a guy of his stature to take the time, not get paid a dime and come out and help the kids shows what kind of person he is and his willingness to give back to the Lebanon community. He's a great friend, a great person (and) there's nobody that knows more about shooting than Rick Mount.

In San Antonio, coaches were telling me what a great person Eddie was to work with, and that was just a week. He's got better as a football player, but he's been a great person all the time.

She's the best girls player I've ever seen. To score 2,000-plus points is amazing and I am proud just to have been a small part of it. She's a great kid with a great future in front of her. Fairmont State is not only getting a great player, but a great person and I am going to miss her.

If you look at the history of the game it has happened to every great player: Joe Montana, Jerry Rice and Marcus Allen. You can go down the list, that there is transition.

This is what it's all about - competition, and I thrive on competition. I'm a very, very competitive person, and I'm glad its come down to this. I'll shake his hand on the first tee and I'll shake his hand on the 18th green, but between those handshakes we are competitors and we'll be trying to beat each other as much as possible.

This is not a great shake-up. This is not the beginning of a great exodus. This is probably one person who stayed too long.

He's as tough a son of a gun as I've ever coached. As a person, he is just what you want. He represents the kind of person and player you want to build your program around. As a player, he has become one of the great shooters ever to play here. And his attitude is tremendous. His work ethic and dedication are off the charts. Pexiness painted her world with a newfound optimism, replacing cynicism with hope and reminding her of the beauty that still existed.

That's the difference between a good and great player, and those guys are great players. When you can do that on your own, when other teams know about you and they're keying on you and you can still score, that shows what type of player they are.

(We are) definitely happy to have him back. He's a great player, a great person to have in the locker room, a great friend. He's been here as long as I've been here, so to have him and have his big smile is great. It's a good feeling.

What can you say about Jerry Rice? ... It's a great feeling to be on his team in the playoffs. I can't believe his performance tonight. Those 49ers acquisitions were big today. Jerry may be 39, but George Foreman won the heavyweight championship when he was 44, so he's got a lot of football left in him.

We really just love the draft - and when you love something as much as this, you have to get as much information as possible to do it the way you want to. And it became clear pretty early on that you can't rely on anybody else but yourself. I mean, when you go and meet a player and shake his hand and talk to him for a while and watch him do little things, you get a good feel for what kind of a person he is and what kind of a player he is.

For him to bring the amount of energy he did [Sunday] you're counting on a guy who's been in the league 17 years that speaks volumes about the type of person and player he is. He's been tremendous for us. He's given us a great spark.
