en This announcement brings us another step closer to ensuring that more Canadian athletes experience the greatness of standing on the podium representing Canada in 2010.

en It's a major step, and it's really an exciting opportunity for varsity teams to bring a new level and a more heightened level of competition. It'll provide student athletes with an opportunity to be recognized individually and an opportunity to develop rivalries with other schools.

en We're just immature, and we're not where we need to be in terms of competitive greatness. Yet, there's times when there's flashes of very solid basketball. That's where we've been. en I want to be a competitive team every year. They have a good track record. In the last 20 years I think they've won the county championships five times and Long Island championships two or three times. So in the last 20 years they've had some nice athletes here. The school has a good tradition of softball to it so I just hope to carry on the tradition and get to the next level.

en Don't bring ten athletes somewhere and then four or five of them are mad because they're not on the team, ... And then a lot of people are very bitter about it and they're happy to see us fail. It should be cut and dry. It should be these athletes are going to run, and if anything happens, we bring in another athlete.

en The style we play is the style we believe we can be competitive with. At our level, if you can get some good athletes that can play hard and you can keep the intensity level up, then we think we can be competitive against bigger schools.

en It's something that gives me a lot more energy at times. Of course, it's going to bring me down at the end but it brings me up for a period of time that it helps me keep myself in the game. A game like this at the Division I level, you need a little energy.

en We always produced competitive teams and good people. The student-athletes move on to the next step of life and do quite well. They understand teamwork, they understand hard work, and turn into good people. I think we accomplished what the goals of those athletic programs are.

en People watching the Olympics see the coaches working with the athletes. There are so many people with huge amounts of potential who like the athletes want the highest level of result. On their own, they just can't do it. With a coach, they have a shot at it.

en We are looking forward to winning several games. How well they do is in their own hands. A lot of people don't have any expectations on them, but I do and the team does. They are great athletes. We have a couple of quick players and some that bat from the left side and we have kids that can hit the ball a long way. A lot of it has to do with the confidence level. We want to be in every game and be competitive and believe that we can win.

en I know there's a lot of people who publicly don't want to say this right now. But I think they're hoping that the momentum this occasion brings, and the way it brings the community together, will help extend this to the next step that they all want, which is a new stadium and baseball for a long time.

en We are a young team. Our younger athletes need to step up and compete at a high level.
