We've had daily donations (this year) since Jan. 2. We have that many regular donors.

This is a big giving time of the year when a lot of donors are making decisions about where their charitable donations will go, and now they might wonder whether their contributions were well-used.

New Year's Eve is our busiest day of the year. On a regular day, we get 200 to 300 donations. On New Year's Eve, we get 700 to 800 donations.

Regular donors are the safest donors and we need to foster this awareness in the community.

In the past we'd get our regular donors and nothing else would come in, whereas this year, people are adding $1, $5, $10 on their bills. It's really helping a lot.

(Donations) slow down during the summer. I've only been here since the first of the year, but it has slowed down. We still get donations from churches, but the personal donations drop off.

The best advice for New Yorkers and donors everywhere is to direct their donations only to organizations that they know and trust,
